In the run-up to the general elections scheduled to take place in a few months’ time, the speaker of the Zimbabwean parliament on Thursday (19 January) submitted a preliminary report on the country’s various constituencies to the country’s president, Emmerson Manangagwa.

The electoral commission has not yet announced the exact date of the election but revealed that it is scheduled for July or August.

The Speaker of the Zimbabwean Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, said that the president will issue the final report 14 days after the submission of the preliminary report, in accordance with the Constitution.

The main political parties at the moment are the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union and the main opposition party is the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
