Morocco-Senegal: Signature of a memorandum of understanding in the field of water and sanitation

The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, and the Senegalese Minister of Water and Sanitation, Serigne Mbaye Thiam, signed today in Rabat, a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of water and sanitation as well as the exchange of expertise and experiences in this field.

In this context, and after emphasizing the excellent relations between the two countries, the Moroccan minister stressed the need to consolidate bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Senegal in this field in addition to promoting the exchange of experience and scientific research.

The minister added that the areas concerned by this agreement are water saving, groundwater preservation, and wastewater treatment.

For his part, the Senegalese minister said that this agreement is an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in these areas while taking advantage of the significant Moroccan experience. He added that this visit strengthens bilateral relations, especially after Morocco’s participation in the 9th International Water Forum in Dakar.
