The Dakar 2 Summit on Food Sovereignty will be held from 25 to 27 January in Senegal, under the theme “Feeding Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience”, at the initiative of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, the government of Senegal and the African Union Commission.

The event, which brings together governments, the private sector, organizations, and NGOs around the theme of food security in Africa, will be chaired by the President of the Republic of Senegal, the current Chairperson of the African Union, Macky Sall. In addition, the summit will include presidential round tables and high-level plenary sessions.

The first edition of this event dates back to 2015 and allowed the outline of the Strategy for Agricultural Transformation in Africa (2016 – 2025) to be drawn. Thus, this edition aims to transform advocacy efforts into concrete actions, announced the African Development Bank in a statement.

In the same statement, a call was made for a global coalition of efforts around Africa’s agricultural potential to address global food supply shortages.
