Three matches are on the program this Saturday, January 14 for the second day of CHAN 2022 in Algeria. For the second match of group A, Mozambique challenges Ethiopia in the early afternoon. In Group B, DR Congo faces Uganda in a derby, while Senegal will face Ivory Coast.

After the victory of the host country Algeria against Libya (1-0) this Friday, January 13 for the kick-off of the 7th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), it is the turn of Mozambique and Ethiopia to make their Group A debut on Saturday. Mozambicans and Ethiopians will seek to follow in the footsteps of Fennecs A’ to get their tournament off to a good start.

With already two participations (2014 and 2016), the local Walyas have the advantage of tournament experience over the Mambas (only one participation). Webetu Abate’s men are therefore slightly favorites in this meeting.

“My team is gaining experience with every competition they play,” Abate said. Our ambitions for this tournament are to qualify for the knockout matches. The team has improved enormously over the past year, not only tactically and technically, but also mentally. Often, the psychic aspect of the game has failed us. But I can tell you that I have 26 Ethiopian champions ready to fight against Mozambique. »
