The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has called on beachgoers to be vigilant and stay away from seals and other marine animals after a “baby seal” on Clifton beach bit two people.

The NRSI said it had given treatment to the people, adding that similar incidents had occurred in recent months on beaches in the area.

A video circulating on social media showed a seal pup chasing a child and attempting to bite it on the leg before two men came to its rescue.

In South Africa, we also hear about shark attacks. It is home to some of the world’s most dangerous species, such as the white shark and the bulldog shark.
