The Ethiopian Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the Global Alliance for Vaccines, launched an integrated national vaccination campaign against measles, aiming to reach more than 15.5 children.

This move against measles targets children between the ages of 9 and 59 months across the country, including in hard-to-reach populations in areas affected by drought and conflict.

In addition, nutrition services will be provided for children, deworming against intestinal parasites, identifying obstetric fistula, which many Ethiopian women suffer from, and administering COVID-19 vaccines.

The World Health Organization said that measles remains a health concern in Ethiopia with several outbreaks occurring in different parts of the country.
