Hundreds of Senegalese demonstrated on Friday calling for legal action after a number of irregularities were identified in the Court of Auditor’s report on managing anti-Covid funds, AFP journalists said.
Civil society is demanding the resignation of all those involved and compensation for the alleged embezzlement.
On the other hand; The government defended itself, saying reported violations accounted for less than 1% of the total funds and pledged to follow the court’s recommendations.
“May justice be done. Everyone who misappropriated the funds, whether they were party comrades or the president’s brother-in-law, must be brought to justice as soon as possible” said Alioune Tine ; founder of Afrikajom centre and civil society figure.
