A road accident occurred in Sudan in which at least 16 people were killed and 19 people were injured, according to a Sudanese police statement.
The accident took place in the locality of Sheikh Hamad, west of Omdurman when a bus travelling from El Fasher to the capital Khartoum went off the road and hit a parked truck on a highway in the Sudanese city of Omdurman.
Ambulances took the injured to Omdurman hospital, while the dead were taken to the morgue.
Sudan is among the countries with the highest death rates from road accidents, often due to poor road maintenance, faulty braking systems or poor enforcement of traffic laws.
