The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, will represent His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the US-Africa Leaders Summit, which is being held from 13 to 15 December in Washington and which brings together leaders from 49 African countries, representatives and senior officials from civil society, the private sector, the AU Commission and US administration officials.
The summit began on Tuesday with a diaspora and young leaders forum, and focused on development on the African continent, followed by a session on peace, governance and security.
According to the U.S. State Department, the summit aims to revitalize U.S.-Africa ties to cope with several challenges such as democracy, strengthening regional and global health, food security, peace and security and finding solutions to the climate crisis.
