A joint statement was adopted at the closing of the fourth session of the Joint Cooperation Commission, held this Friday in Dakhla, and co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Burkina Faso counterpart, Olivia Ragnaghnewendé Rouamba.

According to the statement, “The Burkina Faso side welcomed the constant efforts made by Morocco, under the wise and enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to promote peace and development in Africa”.

In this respect, the two ministers stressed that the Kingdom of Morocco and Burkina Faso share a common desire to contribute to the preservation of peace and stability on the African continent in general, and in the Sahel region in particular.

They also noted, with satisfaction, their convergence of views on the various issues raised and reiterated their determination to participate in efforts to settle disputes in Africa.

The two parties reaffirmed that their Heads of State are committed to working together to achieve lasting peace and economic development on the African continent, particularly in the context of implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

For his part, Mr. Bourita expressed Morocco’s full solidarity with Burkina Faso in its tireless efforts to combat the scourge of terrorism and violent extremism, stressing that Burkina Faso will always find in Morocco a partner that is constantly committed to promoting and supporting its initiatives for stability and development.

In her speech, Mrs. Rouamba thanked Morocco for its solidarity and support for Burkina Faso, which is facing security and humanitarian challenges.
