The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) launched on Wednesday a program to support African countries in modernizing administrative data for statistical purposes.
The program is part of the Roadmap for Transforming and Modernising Official Statistics in Africa from 2023 to 2030.
This roadmap was approved at the ECA Conference of Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning.
Workshops are underway to launch the program process in Cameroon and Uganda.
ECA stated that administrative data sources provide disaggregated data with high periodicity, which is essential in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.
