The Regional Health and Social Protection Directorate of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region has disclosed the causes behind the mysterious deaths reported in the area over the past 24 hours.
In a statement received by Hespress, the Directorate confirmed that the regional hospital in Beni Mellal recorded 21 deaths on July 24th, 2024. This includes 4 deaths occurring outside the hospital and 17 deaths within the hospital. The majority of the deceased were individuals suffering from chronic illnesses and the elderly. The significant rise in temperatures contributed to a deterioration in their health, leading to their deaths.
The statement further explained that, following reports of sudden deaths in the emergency department of Beni Mellal Regional Hospital attributed to the high temperatures, the Regional Health and Social Protection Directorate of Beni Mellal-Khenifra initiated an immediate investigation to determine the true causes of these incidents.
The Directorate urges all citizens in the region to exercise caution, avoid exposure to sunlight, especially during peak hours, and consult health services when necessary. It also remains available to provide information to all media outlets in the region regarding this issue.
