The newly elected Senegalese President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has chosen to make his maiden official trip abroad to Mauritania on Thursday, April 18th, to this neighboring nation. This strategic and symbolic visit underscores the Senegalese president’s commitment to strengthening the bonds of good neighborliness that unite the two countries, mirroring the approach of his predecessor.

Upon his arrival at the airport at 11 a.m., President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal was warmly received by his Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Ould Gazouani, currently serving as the head of the African Union. The two leaders had previously met during the Senegalese president’s inauguration on April 2nd.

This diplomatic voyage not only highlights the importance of bilateral relations between Senegal and Mauritania but also signals a shared dedication to regional cooperation and unity within the African continent.
