Posthumous Tribute to Mamadou Koné, President of the High Council of the Judiciary in Ivory Coast

Mamadou Koné

Mamadou Koné passed away at the age of 71. President Alassane Ouattara was in attendance to pay his respects. A distinguished magistrate, Koné served as Minister of Justice and President of the Constitutional Council. Today, he will be laid to rest in Bouaké.

Numerous dignitaries gathered to honor Koné, with his coffin draped in the Ivorian flag. Among them were the Minister of Defense, the President of the National Order, and the President of the Court of Auditors. All spoke of him as a man of great integrity.

Graduating top of his class at the Paris School of Magistracy, Mamadou Koné swiftly ascended the ranks, serving as Keeper of the Seals, President of the Supreme Court, and President of the Constitutional Council. Since July 2023, he has chaired the High Council of the Judiciary.

Hua Koffi, President of the Court of Cassation, praised Koné’s vision for justice: “He inspired hope for a new, efficient justice system that reconciles with the people on whose behalf it upholds the law.”

Following a military parade, the president presented the state flag to Mamadou Koné’s widow, symbolizing recognition for his service. Mamadou Koné will be laid to rest today in Bouaké, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to justice and service to the nation.
