With the war in Sudan entering its second year next week, the conflict has devastated most of the country’s healthcare infrastructure, with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) estimating that only 25% to 30% of them are still operational.

The remaining facilities are lacking in essential resources. MSF condemns the obstruction by authorities in Port Sudan, who are delaying the issuance of visas for humanitarian workers and customs clearances for medical supplies.

As the population faces a humanitarian catastrophe, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) issues a heartfelt plea just one week before the anniversary of the civil war. MSF denounces the obstruction by authorities in Port Sudan, who are delaying the issuance of visas for humanitarian workers and customs clearances for medical supplies.

According to Abdalla Hussein, MSF’s Director of Operations on the ground, “When we request permits, soldiers ask us to open our packages, and if they contain surgical equipment, it is systematically removed and confiscated.”
