Three days after the announcement of the Prime Minister’s name, attention is now focused on the formation of the government. This seemingly simple task could prove challenging given the presence of influential figures within the parliamentary majority. Felix Tshisekedi, the president, and Judith Tuluka Suminwa, the Prime Minister, will need to demonstrate diplomacy and skill to reconcile the aspirations of the ruling party with those of other coalition members.

Within the president’s inner circle, it is announced that the composition of the new government will be unveiled before the end of April. The groundwork has been facilitated by the prior missions of Augustin Kabuya as an informant.

Thus, Judith Tuluka Suminwa inherits a political landscape already outlined, with defined power balances and a proposed distribution of ministries according to these dynamics. And within the circles of political groupings that are members of the ruling coalition, there is not much room for maneuver, as personal ambitions are approached without illusions.

The appointment of Judith Tuluka Suminwa is seen as a strategy by Felix Tshisekedi to maintain decisive influence over the first government of his latest term. With the president’s trust, Prime Minister Suminwa is aware of the need to act swiftly, her close associates affirm. She plans to meet with certain key political figures as early as this week, despite not having officially assumed her duties as Prime Minister yet.

Temporarily housed at the Fleuve Congo Hotel, one of the capital’s most prestigious establishments, she will coordinate her activities there while awaiting a formal handover with her predecessor.
