President Tinubu to Attend Inauguration of Senegal’s President-Elect Bassirou Faye

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart from Abuja on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, for Dakar, Senegal, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Faye.

This announcement was made in a statement issued by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, entitled ‘President Tinubu to Attend Inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect Bassirou Faye.’

As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu’s visit marks his first official trip to Senegal since assuming office. He has been invited by the Senegalese government to attend the inauguration ceremony, which will take place at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday.

Accompanying President Tinubu on the trip will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, alongside other senior government officials.

Upon the conclusion of the inauguration event, President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria.

Senegal will mark the fifth African country visited by President Tinubu during his tenure, adding to his extensive foreign engagements. Since assuming office ten months ago, he has visited various destinations, including Paris, France (thrice); London, the United Kingdom; Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); Nairobi, Kenya; Porto Novo, Benin Republic; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; New York, the United States of America; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and Doha, Qatar.
