The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unveiled its timeline of activities in preparation for the Ondo State governorship election.

Scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission for November 16, 2024, the Ondo State Governorship election has prompted the PDP to meticulously plan its course of action.

Signed by the PDP National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, the schedule was prominently displayed on Monday on the notice board at the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.

Key events highlighted in the timetable include the party’s congress to select its gubernatorial candidate, slated for Thursday, April 25, 2024. Furthermore, an interactive session between critical stakeholders and the National Working Committee is scheduled for March 5, 2024.

“The sale of expression of interest, nomination forms, and Ad-hoc forms is slated for March 7 – March 21. March 25 marks the deadline for the submission of completed expression of interest and Ad-hoc forms,” the timetable delineates.

As outlined in the PDP timetable, gubernatorial aspirants are to undergo screening at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on March 27, with the screening reports expected to be submitted by March 29. Subsequently, appeals regarding the screening exercise are slated for April 2, 2024.

Ward Congress, aimed at electing 3-man Ad-hoc Ward Delegates, will transpire between April 6 – April 7, with appeals for the ward Congress scheduled for April 10.

Further guidelines dictate the certification of the deputy governorship candidate by the NWC of the party on May 9, while May 20 stands as the deadline for submitting the name of the gubernatorial candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The timetable also designates June 10 as the final date for the withdrawal and replacement of candidates.

The PDP’s meticulously crafted schedule underscores the party’s commitment to a transparent and organized electoral process in the forthcoming Ondo State governorship election.
