Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the widow of the late former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has publicly admonished her husband’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, for endorsing the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the state’s governorship election.

In a statement shared on her Instagram page on Monday morning, Betty expressed her disapproval of Funke’s support for Aiyedatiwa, labeling her as shameless and questioning her allegiance to the family. Betty’s post hinted at skepticism regarding Funke’s motives, suggesting that only time will reveal whether her purported luck holds.

“Behold the face of Aketi’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, the former deputy chief protocol to Aketi, shamelessly parades as ‘I am lucky.’ Bloody serpent! Time will tell if she is truly lucky!” wrote Betty Akeredolu.

Lucky Aiyedatiwa assumed the position of Governor of Ondo State on December 27th, 2023, following the passing of his predecessor, Akeredolu, who succumbed to prostate cancer in Germany at the age of 67.

Betty Akeredolu’s public rebuke highlights the internal tensions within the Akeredolu family and underscores the complexities surrounding political allegiances in the wake of Rotimi Akeredolu’s demise.
