In a heartening development, the Italian government revealed on Tuesday that three Italian nationals from the same family, who were abducted in Mali in May 2022, have been freed.

The government announced in a statement that “Tonight, three Italian citizens have been released: Rocco Langone, his wife Maria Donata Caivano, and their son Giovanni Langone, who was abducted on May 19, 2022,” southeast of the capital Bamako.
