In Malaysia, a man named Mohamad Amin Hussaini has found himself embroiled in controversy due to his alleged claims of being a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad, exploiting this status for personal gain.

But it doesn’t stop there, as Mohamad Amin has also dragged the name of Morocco into this debate by claiming Moroccan origins and nationality, causing headlines in Malaysian newspapers linked to this issue.

The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Asian Affairs division, denied any connection between Mohamad Amin and the sacred lineage of Prophet Muhammad, refuting his claims and clarifying his true background.

Who is Mohamad Amin?

Mohamad Amin, currently known as Mohamad Amin Hussaini, was born in 1984 in the Algerian capital of Algiers before later relocating to France with his family, holding both French and Algerian citizenships.

Besides facing allegations of unlawfully collecting public funds, Mohamad Amin, along with the director of an Islamic school in Selangor, is accused of promoting activities related to “Mohamad Amin” actively. Additionally, they attempted to establish a group called “Kerajaan 9” in Malacca, purportedly preparing for the end times according to his followers.

The Malaysian Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that they would cooperate closely with the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) and governmental Islamic religious authorities, as well as the police, to investigate the reports regarding Mohamad Amin.

Furthermore, the Malaysian ministry emphasized in a statement that they would not tolerate any entity attempting to exploit religion for personal or collective interests. They urged all citizens to always refer to the official Islamic religious authorities in the country regarding the accreditation of preachers to avoid any attempts to exploit religion for other purposes.
