In a significant operation led by a joint security force, a suspected insurgents’ camp in Achalla, Awka North local government area of Anambra State, has been successfully dismantled.

Initiated by the state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, the operation caught the insurgents off guard, prompting them to flee with gunshot wounds, leaving behind traces of blood.

According to DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the insurgents had disrupted the popular Achalla Market on Monday, ordering traders to stay at home. This disturbance drew the attention of state security operatives, leading the police command to take decisive action against the insurgents.

The operation yielded significant results, with the recovery of five exotic vehicles previously stolen at gunpoint. Additionally, over 300 rounds of machine gun ammunition and 34 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition for AK-47 rifles were seized.

Ikenga further stated, “All operatives involved in the operation have safely returned to their base.”

“The Commissioner of Police has instructed that the owners of the recovered vehicles be contacted to provide proof of ownership and collect their vehicles.”

“The search for the fleeing insurgents will extend to hospitals and clinics to ensure they are brought to justice after receiving necessary medical treatment.”

This successful operation underscores the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command and its collaborators to combatting insurgency and ensuring the safety and security of residents.
