Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has unequivocally stated that his administration has no intention of abolishing the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) recently established by the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Addressing a gathering in Akure, including former members of the caretaker committees of the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and LCDAs, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the preservation of Akeredolu’s legacy through the continued existence of the LCDAs. He announced plans to constitute transition committees for the 18 Local Government Areas and 33 LCDAs in preparation for the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Acknowledging the legal hurdles posed by a court case initiated by the opposition party and subsequent injunctions preventing the inauguration of the former appointees, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured that efforts were underway to resolve the matter through a political solution sanctioned by the court. Once the legal impediments are lifted, he pledged to rectify any errors in the composition of the appointees’ list and proceed with the inauguration of transition committees.

Emphasizing the importance of unity within the party, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the former appointees to demonstrate unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and collective progress within their respective local government areas. He underscored the absence of division within the party’s leadership, fostering a sense of cohesion and solidarity among its members.

Echoing the governor’s call for unity, State APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for his proactive engagement with party members, reaffirming the party’s commitment to collective advancement and development.

In response, former appointees, represented by Hon. Olaniyi Gbenga and Mrs. Funke Kumuyi, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the interactive session and pledged their unwavering loyalty and support to his administration.

Governor Aiyedatiwa’s resolute stance on preserving the LCDAs underscores his commitment to continuity and effective governance, ensuring the sustained implementation of developmental initiatives across Ondo State.
