Dennis Idahosa Emerges APC Governorship Candidate in Edo

In a significant development in Edo State politics, Dennis Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election held on Saturday.

With an impressive total of 40,483 votes, Idahosa secured the party’s ticket for the upcoming September 21 governorship election in the state. His victory was announced by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as the chairman of the APC primary election committee.

Governor Uzodimma declared Idahosa as the candidate for the APC after he garnered the highest number of votes among the nine aspirants vying for the position. The announcement marks a significant milestone in Idahosa’s political journey and sets the stage for a competitive race in the forthcoming gubernatorial polls.

However, the announcement was not without its share of controversy. Governor Uzodimma acknowledged a mix-up regarding the location of the committee’s secretariat, clarifying that the authentic secretariat was the Protea Hotel, contrary to earlier reports from the Lushville Hotel where results were initially announced.

Idahosa’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate adds a new dimension to the political landscape in Edo State and sets the stage for a closely watched electoral contest. As the countdown to the governorship election begins, all eyes will be on Idahosa and the APC as they prepare to vie for leadership in the state.
