Tinubu to Inaugurate Geometric Power Plant in Aba, Abia State

In a significant development poised to transform Aba’s economic landscape, the Geometric power generating plant in Abia State is scheduled for commissioning on February 24, 2024. The eagerly anticipated event will mark a milestone in power generation and spur business growth in the region.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, during a press briefing at the Government House in Umuahia. President Bola Tinubu is slated to officiate the commissioning ceremony, underscoring the significance of the project.

Prince Kanu emphasized the diligent efforts of the state government in facilitating the realization of the power plant, which is poised to address longstanding challenges in power supply faced by residents and businesses in Aba and its environs.

“The commissioning of the Geometric Power Plant signifies a monumental achievement for both the Geometrics company and the people of Abia State,” stated Prince Kanu. He highlighted the state government’s commitment to fostering private sector investment in critical infrastructure, thereby bolstering the state’s economic prospects.

The commissioner expressed optimism about the transformative impact of the power project on the Aba business environment, noting that improved access to electricity will spur economic activities and enhance livelihoods in the region.

Furthermore, Prince Kanu underscored the fortuitous nature of the project’s inception, citing the involvement of Dr. Alex Otti, the former Managing Director and CEO of Diamond Bank PLC, who played a pivotal role in the Geometric Power Project’s development. Dr. Otti, now the Governor of Abia State, is set to oversee the commissioning, a testament to his longstanding commitment to advancing infrastructure development in the state.
