The party is planning to launch its manifesto in Durban at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, signaling its ambitious attempt to win the province. Thousands of supporters have already gathered in anticipation of EFF leader Julius Malema’s speech, highlighting the party’s growing influence in the region.
Despite facing stiff competition from established parties like the African National Congress (ANC) and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), the EFF is adamant about challenging their dominance. Party leaders have made it clear that they refuse to play second fiddle in a province where they have historically garnered less support. Veronica Mente, the EFF’s chairperson, rebuffed suggestions that the party is starting from a disadvantaged position, citing the ANC’s declining majority in recent elections. Former ANC member Carl Niehaus echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in the EFF’s ability to make an impact in KwaZulu-Natal despite opposition efforts to thwart their presence.
As the event kicks off, Malema is expected to address key issues such as service delivery, radical economic transformation, job creation, and the fight against corruption.
