The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of a notorious traffic robbery suspect believed to be the most wanted in the area surrounding Ijora Badia.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, revealing that the police had been pursuing the suspect for the past six months.

According to Hundeyin, operatives from the Ijora Badia Division had been actively gathering intelligence on the activities of 18-year-old Olawale Odunsi, the suspected culprit, leading up to his apprehension.

The suspect, alleged to have been involved in numerous traffic robberies around the Iganmu and Ijora under Bridge areas, was described by victims as a dangerous assailant sporting distinctive dreadlocks.

Despite evading capture multiple times in the past, Odunsi’s luck ran out on Tuesday afternoon, as police received intelligence that he and his gang were planning an operation at Iganmu underbridge.

Acting swiftly, operatives from the Ijora Badia Division moved in and arrested the suspect as he emerged from his criminal hideout. Although his accomplices managed to flee the scene, Odunsi was successfully taken into custody.

At the police station, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crimes, and investigations are currently ongoing, according to Hundeyin.
