The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Jibrin Ismail Falgore has expressed deep concern over the worsening economic challenges faced by Nigerians, stating that the situation is deteriorating daily.

This lamentation from the Speaker comes in the wake of recent efforts by the State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who offered to personally meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss the prevalent economic hardship and hunger in the state.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, Falgore emphasized the severity of the hardships faced by Nigerians, particularly due to government policies contributing to a significant rise in the cost of living, especially regarding essential commodities.

Encouraging farmers to intensify their agricultural activities, Falgore underscored the importance of proactive measures by religious leaders, institutions, companies, and governments at all levels to mitigate rising living costs.

Furthermore, the Speaker noted that the economic downturn has resulted in declining business patronage, impacting various aspects of daily life.

While calling on the federal government to devise effective strategies to address the prevailing economic challenges, including skyrocketing prices of commodities and inflation, Rt. Hon Jibrin Ismail Falgore stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive economic plan to alleviate the suffering of the people.

The statement concludes by highlighting the Speaker’s appeal for the federal government to formulate and implement a strategic economic roadmap aimed at easing the burdens faced by Nigerians nationwide.
