In a disturbing incident, an undisclosed number of schoolchildren were reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen in Emure Local Government of Ekiti State on Monday. The victims said to be students of an unidentified school, were abducted while being transported in their school bus at the Eporo-Ekiti boundary.

Details about the incident remain scarce, and the exact number of students taken by the kidnappers is still unknown. As of now, the police have not officially confirmed the abduction.

This incident follows closely after the killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State. The Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, were ambushed and killed by armed men while returning from a meeting. The third traditional ruler, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, managed to escape the attack.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has strongly condemned these acts and has ordered security operatives in the state to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the killings of the two traditional rulers. He assured the people of the state that the government is committed to thoroughly investigating the matter and bringing the culprits to justice.
