Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab is reportedly targeting Moroccan football star Hakim Ziyech for a potential signing following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). According to reports, Al-Shabab, currently ranked 11th in the Saudi League standings, is keen on acquiring the services of the 30-year-old midfielder, who is currently on loan at Turkey’s Galatasaray since August 2023.

This isn’t the first time Al-Shabab has expressed interest in Ziyech, as the club had previously made an offer in early 2023. However, the current pursuit indicates that Ziyech is now a priority for Al-Shabab. The Saudi club aims to bolster its squad by recruiting players with European training backgrounds, such as Ziyech, in a bid to improve its performance in the league.

In addition to Ziyech, Al-Shabab is reportedly eyeing other prominent players, including Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic, and Paraguayan midfielder Miguel Almiron. Romain Saiss, Ziyech’s teammate in the Moroccan national football team, already plays for Al-Shabab, having been transferred on loan from Al Sadd.

Despite being on loan at Galatasaray, Ziyech remains under contract with Chelsea until 2025. The Moroccan midfielder is currently participating in the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire and has been a key figure for the Atlas Lions, contributing significantly to the team’s campaign. Notably, Ziyech scored a goal against Zambia during the tournament.

As part of the AFCON Round of 16, the Moroccan national football team is scheduled to face South Africa at San Pedro Stadium, with kick-off set for 9 p.m. Moroccan Time. The outcome of this match could further influence Ziyech’s market value and the interest of clubs like Al-Shabab.
