The first of the twins entered the world at 23:59 (2259 GMT) on December 31, while her sibling arrived a mere minute after midnight on January 1. This unique circumstance was confirmed by an official at a hospital located in the coastal town of Split, where the twins were delivered.
Describing the situation, Damir Roje, the head of the hospital’s perinatology department, expressed, “It is truly an unusual situation.” He went on to mention that although he had encountered instances of twins being born on different days, this marked the first occurrence in his professional career where twin babies arrived in different years.
The minuscule time difference in their births implies that the family will now celebrate one of the girls’ birthdays on New Year’s Eve and the other on New Year’s Day, creating a distinctive and memorable start to their lives.
