The political figure and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ablassé Ouedraogo, was apprehended upon his return to Burkina Faso by unknown individuals at his residence in Ouagadougou on Sunday evening.

As the leader of the “Le Faso Autrement” party, Ablassé Ouedraogo had raised concerns with religious and traditional authorities in Burkina Faso in a letter last October, where he expressed criticism of the transitional government’s management.

Following the public release of this letter, Ablassé Ouedraogo reportedly received a military requisition order from the transitional authorities, compelling him to join the front lines against jihadists. Ablassé Ouedraogo is 70 years old.
