Which Films Lead the Nominations in the 96th Oscars Edition?

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences has finally unveiled the highly anticipated shortlist of films nominated for the Oscars. However, the nominations for the main categories have not been disclosed yet.

Ten categories, including Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, and Best Original Song, have been revealed so far.

Among all competing films, the American blockbuster “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and directed by Greta Gerwig, leads with five nominations.

Another film with multiple nominations is “Killers of the Flower Moon,” directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which received four nominations, including Best Original Song.

Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” received nominations in only three of the disclosed categories: Best Original Score, Best Makeup, and Best Sound.

As for Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon,” featuring Joaquin Phoenix, it is nominated for Best Makeup, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects.

The upcoming Oscars ceremony, marking the 96th edition, is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, 2024, when the complete list of nominations will be announced.

The official ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Los Angeles.
