Fatoumata Camara, who slept on the floor with just a blanket, shares her ordeal: “We lost everything, our belongings, our clothes… That’s why we came here.”
However, Fatoumata is already contemplating leaving, as she has nowhere else to go but her home, which was severely impacted by the explosion. “We will go back, but if there is a lot of smoke, we will spend the night here.” Clutching a large blue bag containing provisions such as juice and rice, distributed to survivors, she cherishes the assistance received.
Under a nearby tent, Mohamed Camara waits patiently, uncertain about the next steps. “I registered, but they haven’t informed us about their plans. I’m waiting to be told when I can go back.” The Guinean government has established a toll-free hotline (1016) to facilitate assistance for the victims.
