Kano Governor's Aide Arrested for Alleged Palliative Diversion

The Kano State Police Command has officially confirmed the apprehension of Tasiu Al’amin-Roba, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abba Yusuf, along with an individual named Abdulkadir Muhammad. The arrest is in connection with the alleged diversion of palliatives meant for the state.

Commissioner of Police Hussaini Gumel, in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, disclosed that the arrests took place at a warehouse located in Sharada. The warehouse, reportedly containing over 200 empty bags, raised suspicions that the suspects were involved in repackaging rice and maize meant for distribution.

Gumel emphasized that an intensive investigation has been initiated to determine the extent of the repackaging and whether the products were subsequently sold. He asserted that once the discreet investigations are concluded, the two suspects will face charges in court.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts to address issues of misappropriation and ensure accountability in the distribution of essential goods, particularly during times of crisis or need. Authorities continue to prioritize transparency and justice in such matters.
