Miss World South Africa, Claudia Mashego, has been presented with a new silver crown adorned with Swarovski crystals. This comes after her original crown, named “Peo,” was reportedly damaged during her crowning celebrations.

The 24-year-old medical doctor from Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga will now showcase the exquisite new crown, featuring cultural and symbolic significance. The original crown, crafted by NQ Jewelry in Soweto, holds the name “Peo,” which translates to “seed” in Setswana, symbolizing beauty and growth.

While the details of the damage to the original crown remain undisclosed, reports suggest that “Peo” is currently undergoing restoration.

Claudia Mashego secured the Miss World SA title at the end of October in a glamorous ceremony where she was crowned by Miss World 2021, Karolina Bielawska. The beauty queen is poised to represent South Africa at the upcoming Miss World finals in India this December.

Throughout her Miss World SA journey, Mashego has kept her fans informed and engaged. Prior to the finale, she expressed her overwhelming gratitude on Instagram, thanking her supporters and acknowledging the culmination of years of hard work.

“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. I’m grateful to God for years of hard work finally paid off. I’m grateful to my family, friends, and each one of you who have been rallying behind me and encouraging me to keep going,” Mashego shared.

With the replacement crown in place, all eyes are now on Claudia Mashego as she prepares to grace the Miss World stage in India, with the hope of bringing home the coveted title.
