The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has announced three days of mourning, commencing on Monday, November 20, 2023, to honor the late Major General Chris Alli (retired), former Chief of Army Staff, following his unfortunate passing on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, conveyed this information in a statement released on Monday.

During this mourning period, all formations and units of the Nigerian Army have been instructed to fly their flags at half-mast as a symbolic gesture of collective sorrow and respect. Additionally, all personnel are required to wear a black hand band in memory of the late former Chief of Army Staff.

Major General Chris Alli dedicated his life to serving the nation through the Nigerian Army, demonstrating unwavering commitment and professionalism in the defense of our nation.
