The Businessman Seth Kikuni announced his support for Moïse Katumbi in the upcoming December 20, 2023 presidential race in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), after withdrawing from the race himself.
This marks the second candidate to step aside in favor of the former governor of Katanga, a prominent challenger to President Félix Tshisekedi, who is seeking a second term. The announcement comes on the heels of the campaign’s commencement and ahead of Moïse Katumbi’s anticipated major rally in Kisangani in the northeastern part of the country.
On Sunday, former Prime Minister Matata Ponyo Mapon also joined the opposition. Consequently, there are now 24 candidates remaining in the presidential race.
