President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed the government’s commitment to addressing the ongoing sewerage crisis in the beleaguered Emfuleni local municipality. For years, wastewater from the Sebokeng Wastewater Treatment plant has spilled into neighboring communities, causing extensive damage to homes and infrastructure.

During an oversight visit to the area on Friday, President Ramaphosa personally witnessed the dire situation, including the detrimental effects of sewerage water on residents’ homes. He empathized with homeowners like Wendy Ndlovu, who have endured the consequences of this prolonged issue.

President Ramaphosa assured the community that the allocated funds for fixing the sewerage leaks would be effectively utilized. This visit signifies the government’s resolve to rectify this persistent problem and bring relief to the affected residents.
