Over 120 students from two schools in the Eastern Cape region required urgent medical attention after an incident that occurred on Thursday, with one of them in a critical condition.
The Eastern Cape Health Department has reported that more than 50 of these learners are currently admitted to various hospitals.
Unfortunately, such cases are on the rise in the country, with a tragic toll of at least five children losing their lives.
Sizwe Kupelo, spokesperson for Eastern Cape Health, stated that clinical investigations are underway in collaboration with the Chris Hani District Municipality, and a 14-year-old girl is currently in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
