Nigeria's Supreme Court to Rule on Contested Presidential Election

The Supreme Court of Nigeria is set to decide on Thursday whether to confirm the disputed victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February elections, according to a judicial notice issued on Wednesday.

This follows challenges from two of his main contenders who have contested the result on grounds of alleged irregularities, the Supreme Court’s decision will be final.

Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who came second and third in the vote, respectively, approached the Supreme Court on Monday seeking to annul a tribunal decision confirming Tinubu’s victory. This marks their final attempt to overturn a result that has been widely accepted by the international community.
