Kebbi Governor Extends Aid to Banditry Victims with N7 Million Donation

In a bid to alleviate the suffering of those affected by banditry attacks, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has generously extended a hand of assistance by donating N7 million to the beleaguered community of Kanzanna in the Tilli District of Bunza Local Government Area. The heartwarming gesture was made public by Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, in a statement disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria, headquartered in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Sunday.

Governor Idris conveyed this charitable contribution during a condolence visit to Kanzanna village, a community still reeling from the recent onslaught of bandit attacks which tragically resulted in the loss of three innocent lives.

Idris, reflecting his administration’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and properties of the state’s citizens, expressed deep sorrow over the banditry incident, emphasizing that the security and welfare of the people remained paramount on his administration’s agenda.

He articulated, “We are here to offer our condolences over what happened. We pray to Almighty Allah to forgive all those who lost their lives in the incident and give their families the courage to bear the loss.”

Governor Idris has unequivocally assured the distressed residents of Kanzanna that all security agencies will collaborate closely to apprehend the culprits behind the violent attack and ensure that they face the full force of the law. In addition to delivering justice, every feasible measure will be taken to prevent the recurrence of such distressing incidents.

As evident from his visit, the governor was accompanied by the highest-ranking officials of the state’s security agencies, including the Army, Police, Civil Defence, DSS, and vigilant groups, ensuring that they receive the necessary logistical support required to carry out their duties effectively.

Governor Idris left the distressed village with the promise of enhanced security and relief assistance, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to the well-being and safety of the community.

Umar Muhammad-Gwade, the chairman of Bunza Local Government Area, apprised the governor of the tragic loss of three lives during the recent bandit attack, further revealing the recurrent assaults inflicted upon the village and its neighboring regions by the bandits.

The district head of Tilli, Muhammad Jabbo, expressed his gratitude for the governor’s condolences and fervently requested the deployment of additional security personnel to fortify the area’s security. He lamented that many of the bandits infiltrated the region from neighboring countries such as Benin and Niger Republics.

Governor Idris also paid a visit to the Primary Healthcare Centre at Gurya Mashekari in the Kalgo LGA, where he offered his condolences to displaced individuals who had suffered from bandit attacks. In a display of generosity, he donated N2 million to ease their hardships.

Accompanying Governor Idris during this noble endeavor were notable dignitaries, including the state Commissioner of Police, CP Chris Aimionowane, the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the Head of Service, Sufyanu Garba-Bena, heads of security agencies, commissioners, and various politicians, demonstrating a collective commitment to standing with the afflicted community during these challenging times.
