The Supreme Court has officially scheduled a date for the hearing of the petition filed by Abubakar Atiku, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, challenging the election victory of President Bola Tinubu.

As per a memorandum obtained by Vanguard, the highest court in the land has fixed Monday, October 23 for the hearing of this significant case.

On September 19, the PDP candidate filed a 35-ground appeal contesting the decision of the presidential election petitions, which upheld Tinubu’s victory in the election.

Previously, a five-member panel led by Justice Hassan Tsammani had dismissed the petitions filed by Atiku and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, citing a lack of merit.

The former Vice President had also submitted an application to the Supreme Court to present fresh evidence applied by State University against the President.

Atiku has consistently maintained that Tinubu’s academic records are marred by discrepancies and forgery, and he has called upon the apex court to remove him from office. This upcoming hearing promises to be a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal battle.
