Alhaji Bello Maitama Yusuf, a former Nigerian senator who served from 1999 to 2007, has breathed his last. The 76-year-old statesman bid farewell to the world in the early hours of Friday, leaving a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

Alhaji Hussaini Dalhatu, a close family friend of the deceased, confirmed the news. According to him, the funeral prayers for the late Sardauna Dutse are scheduled to be held after the Jumu’at prayer at the Emir of Kano’s palace, a fitting tribute to a man who devoted much of his life to public service.

Born in Gwaram, Jigawa State in 1947, Bello Maitama Yusuf’s illustrious career included serving as the Minister of Interior in 1981 and as the Minister of Commerce in 1982. His passing marks the end of an era, and the nation mourns the loss of a dedicated Nigerian public servant who made significant contributions to the country.
