Doctor Nandipha Magudumana has lodged common assault charges against the Department of Correctional Services. The incident unfolded as Magudumana claimed she was subjected to assault while being held at Kroonstaad Prison, where she is currently incarcerated.

This distressing turn of events came shortly after her forceful transport to the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court, where she ultimately failed to make an appearance, citing a sudden illness as the cause for her absence.

Her legal counsel presented a compelling argument in court, asserting that she had been forcibly transported despite medical documentation affirming her unfit condition.

Magudumana, currently facing criminal charges for her alleged involvement in the escape of her lover and convicted killer, Thabo Bester, from prison in May of the previous year, has now chosen to initiate legal action against the State.

The situation further escalated when her attorney fervently demanded accountability for the inhumane manner in which she was brought to court, underscoring the blatant disregard for her apparent illness.

Although State prosecutor Amanda Bester countered these allegations by stating that Magudumana had refused medical attention and engaged in a protest by undressing herself, the case took an unexpected twist.

Magudumana asserts that she was subjected to an assault while within the confines of the Kroonstad Prison’s hospital wing. In light of these serious allegations, the matter has been promptly transferred to Kroonstad’s detective services for thorough and impartial investigation.
