The Lagos State Police Command announced on Tuesday night that singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, is in their custody to assist in the ongoing investigation into the death of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated, “Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigative activities.”

Naira Marley confirmed his arrival in Lagos and his willingness to cooperate with the authorities in a tweet on Tuesday night. He mentioned that he would be meeting with the police to assist in the ongoing probe.

Marley said, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. I must do my part for Imole.”

The police had previously invited Naira Marley and controversial music promoter Balongun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry (who is now in police custody), for questioning regarding Mohbad’s death.

The police had also confirmed that pathologists have completed the autopsy on Mohbad while awaiting the results. This development followed the exhumation of Mohbad’s body by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.

Furthermore, the police had arrested the nurse who reportedly administered an injection to the deceased singer before his demise on Tuesday, September 12.
