In a significant operation, the Delta State Police Command has apprehended three teenagers suspected of being involved in armed robbery activities. The raid on their ‘Shawarma’ joint base at the popular Enerhen Junction in Warri led to the arrest of two male gang members, Idigbe Osreis (19) and Idigbe Perfect (16), who were found hiding at their hideouts.

The successful operation was initiated when an undercover police operative, while in the vicinity, spotted one of the suspected teenage robbers named Gift Peace. The operative discreetly trailed Gift Peace to a Suya spot, where he was subsequently apprehended.

On September 29, 2023, the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, Warri, SP Bolarinwa Alabi, received a distress call regarding an armed robbery operation at Giwamu Junction in Warri. Acting on the directives of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, the DPO launched an intelligence-led operation alongside his team. This operation resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old suspect at the aforementioned Suya spot.

During the interrogation, the teenage suspect reportedly confessed to being a member of an armed robbery gang that had been terrorizing Warri and its environs. Shockingly, he claimed to have been involved in criminal activities since the tender age of seven. He provided information about other gang members, leading detectives to their hideouts.

Upon sighting the police operatives, the gang members resorted to opening fire from their unregistered operational tricycle.

Delta State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed these events in a statement, highlighting the successful crackdown on this teenage armed robbery gang.
