In a swift response to the abduction incident that occurred barely 20 hours earlier, the Ondo State Police Command announced on Saturday that they had successfully rescued eight of the 25 individuals who were kidnapped on Friday.

The victims, who were members of the Christ Apostolic Church located in Oke Igan, Akure, Ondo State, were abducted by suspected gunmen on the Benin-Akure Expressway in the vicinity of the Ifon area, within Ose Local Government. These individuals, reportedly members of the church choir, were en route to Ifon for a burial ceremony when they were ambushed and forcibly taken to an undisclosed location within the forest.

Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the rescue of eight of the victims. She also stated that ongoing efforts were being made to secure the safe release of the remaining individuals who are still in captivity.

She relayed the positive news, stating, “Good news! Eight victims rescued, and efforts are underway to ensure the safe release of the others unharmed,” via a WhatsApp platform.
