In Cameroon, public funerals are organized by the departmental authorities of Fako on August 9th, in Limbe, in the English-speaking region of the southwest for five government service agents. The five victims were part of a group of local officials kidnapped in 2021.

The remains of the victims were found in Makube, a remote locality in the department of Ndian, located on the border with Nigeria, during the weekend. For several hours, Cameroonian government forces had to search the forest to find the exact place where the bodies had been buried, after the confession of a former separatist fighter who surrendered.

The separatist leaders in exile had ordered the ex-Amba boy to execute the five local administrative officials who had been kidnapped while on a mission in the field. The six hostages had been killed on June 15th, 2021, and only one of the six bodies had been found until then.

A tribute will therefore be paid to them this Wednesday during a public funeral at the centenary stadium, in the city center of Limbe, in the presence of the local administrative authorities.
