Mohammed VIĀ  extended an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit the Kingdom. This invitation comes after Israel’s recent decision to recognize Moroccan sovereignty over the disputed territory of Sahara.

The Royal Court stated that King Mohammed VI sent a letter of appreciation to Netanyahu, warmly welcoming him to Morocco on a date to be determined through diplomatic channels, to best suit both nations. In his message, the King emphasized that this visit holds the potential to unlock new opportunities for bilateral relations between Morocco and Israel.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s visit is to be marked by a joint meeting with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Israeli National Security Advisor Meir Ben-Shabbat. The two leaders agreed to schedule this upcoming visit in the near future.

In his letter to Netanyahu, King Mohammed VI underscored that Israel’s unequivocal stance regarding the Moroccan character of Moroccan Sahara would further strengthen the ties between the two countries. He emphasized that the Sahara issue remains a core national concern for Morocco and is among the top priorities of its foreign policy.

The Moroccan monarch also lauded Israel’s decision as being in line with the robust international momentum that numerous countries worldwide have adopted, supporting a lasting political solution to this regional conflict that has endured for too long.

King Mohammed VI reaffirmed that the proposed solution should be based on the Moroccan initiative, which advocates granting autonomy to the Moroccan Sahara region under the sovereignty of the Kingdom, preserving its territorial integrity. As the prospect of a historic visit awaits, both nations anticipate a new chapter in their bilateral relationship, marked by shared cooperation and mutual understanding.
